Conditions : BULLY CREEK RESERVOIR: The reservoir is at 1 percent of capacity and the boat ramp is not useable based on the Bureau of Reclamation website. The water is well below the bottom of the boat ramp and there is a layer of thick mud near the shore that would make launching a boat problematic. Fish have been observed feeding on mid-morning hatches below the boat ramp. Fishing should be fair to good for warm water species with the bonus of an occasional rainbow trout.

About: - Located only 9 miles northwest of Vale, Bully Creek Reservoir offers a full range of recreational activities. Bully Creek Dam and Reservoir are on the Bully Creek about 8 miles northwest of the Creek's confluence with the Malheur River. Reservoir is 985 surface acres with 7 miles of shoreline. Paved access to the dam.

Forested areas at the reservoir provide opportunities for viewing migrating birds. In the spring, fall, and winter you may see loons, grebes, ducks, and hawks. Nearby a red rock formation sometimes harbors Rock Wrens and Golden Eagles. The reservoir is used as a resting place by migratory waterfowl with some ducks remaining to nest. Sparse vegetative cover of sagebrush and grass provides habitat for small mammals and birds

A park there is operated and maintained by Malheur County. Call (541) 473-2969 for reservations. It consists of 33 campsites (29 with full hookups), a day use area with 2 covered shelters, 3 restrooms with showers, a concrete two-lane boat ramp with a dock, and a caretaker who lives on site. The camp and day use areas have about 10 acres of lawn and trees. The park operates from April through October.
