: NECANICUM RIVER: The Necanicum was high but fishable as of this writing, and should remain so through the weekend and into next week. The hatchery run on this river is winding down, and fishing has been slow, but there are some fresh wild fish showing up (catch and release only for wilds). Last updated 2/17/21. About: -
Necanicum River: This small stream offers fall Chinook salmon fishing along with
steelhead and sea-run cutthroat trout. Chinook are in the river from late
October or early November to around Thanksgiving, peaking in mid-November. The
hatchery winter steelhead run lasts from late October through the middle of
January. This run peaks around the end of December. A small wild run of
steelhead arrives in early February, peaking between mid-February and into
March. Sea-run cutthroats move through from August to late October, with prime
fishing for them early in the season before they disperse into tributary streams
to spawn.
