Fishing Info: Roaring Fork River - The Roaring Fork River is a tributary of the Colorado River and is one Colorado's Blue Ribbon Rivers. The freestone river begins in one of Colorado's highest mountain ranges near Independence Pass, then travels 70 miles to the northwest, where it joins the Colorado River. Much of the river will flow thru scenic ranchland river valley. Of the 70-miles, 40 are designated Gold Medal Waters. Year-round fishing and heavy summer hatches that provide excellent Fly-fishing for wild brown and rainbow trout.

Public access to the upper river is unlimited in the White River National Forest from the Difficult Creek Access on Highway 82 to the top of Independence Pass.

The middle section of the Roaring Fork (from Aspen down to Carbondale) is the most popular stretch for anglers whom choose to wade. The river does provide easy accessed from many areas.
