: NEHALEM RIVER: The Nehalem is predicted to blow out on Wednesday and will probably take a while to drop into decent fishing condition, at least in the lower river. The upper river may fish sooner. Check river levels before heading out. Once it comes back into shape there are good catch-and-release opportunities for wild steelhead throughout the basin, and it is in the peak of the run. Last updated 2/27/24. Steelhead fishing on the North Fork Nehalem has been slow mostly due to river conditons. The North Fork may blow out on Wednesday but should be back in shape late in the week and through the weekend. There are still wild broodstock hatchery steelhead coming in and will continue through the season, but numbers will be lower than earlier in the run. There's also catch and release opportunity for wild steelhead. Last updated 2/27/24.? Reported by: Oregon D.F.W |
