| About: -
Heron Lake is a picturesque lake in the mountains set among tall pines. The 6,000-acre lake that favors
fishing, sailing views of Brazos Cliffs. Produces 14- to 20-inch kokanee, and 10- to 20-plus-pound
lake trout. Ice fishing is popular in winter for the arctic set. Heron has a
marina and a visitor center along with several scenic campgrounds that line the shore of this scenic lake.
(Primitive and
full developed campsites are available.) Many visitors use guides to provide proper equipment and advice. For

Directions: Heron Lake State Park is 11 miles west of Tierra Amarilla via US highways 64 and
84 and NM 95.
