: Willard Bay: Fishing forecast (March through June): Through mid-April, fishing for walleye will be good starting in shallow water as the fish come into shore to spawn. For walleyes, try fishing a 1/8- to 1/4-ounce jig tipped with a worm. Until mid-April, walleye can be found all along the dike. When water is running in the south inlet channel, you can also find them at the headwaters. Fishing will be best at dusk, and during the early night and early morning hours. Crappie fishing will pick up in early May as fish come into the shallow water to spawn. For crappie, try fishing a 1/16- to 1/8-ounce jig tipped with a piece of worm under a bobber. Catfishing will be good anytime. Fish a hook (#6 or #8) with a worm on the bottom, and use a sliding egg sinker to help you cast it. Fishing for wiper will pick up close to shore in late April and early May. Mussels are the most effective bait. Fish them on the bottom for best success. Trolling for wiper, walleye and catfish can be good from late April through June. Try bottom bouncing a worm and harness or trolling medium- to deep-diving crankbaits. Reported by: Uath DWR |
