: Watts Bar: The lake conditions on 11/09/2009 was as follows: The surface water temperature was in the 50's. The elevation was at 739.4 ft. This was at a normal seasonal level and 3.4 ft. above winter level. Crappie were being caught near piers in the bay areas and near current breaks in the river. Blowdowns in the river have been holding some good crappie. Rock banks and chunky rocks located along points have also been productive areas for catching black crappie. Not all rock walls or banks will be areas used by crappie. Trial and error will lead to areas that are consistent locations. Minnows and jigs were equally effective for catching crappie. Bass were being caught shallow along river points and flats and in the sloughs. The best slough fishing has been in areas with an abundance of baitfish. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits and spoons were being used as often as other lures. Rockfish were being caught on live bait in many areas of the lake. The area near Caney Creek in the main channel has had a few breaks, but the river area above Paint Rock has been the best location for rockfish. Big catfish continue to be caught while using shad for bait in selected river locations. Reported by: Tennessee W.R.A |

| About: -
Watts Bar Lake is one of the Southern Tennessee's largest lakes. It has 770 miles of
shoreline with some of the South's best fishing. Large mouth bass are the largest
population, followed closely by small mouth bass and crappie - all three species
of crappie which include white, black and the recently stocked Arkansas black
nose. Watts Bar Lake is now developing a reputation for the fresh
water striped bass, also known as the rock fish. The largest our Resort has
weighed was 49 pounds; however, most weigh from 12 to 35 pounds
