About: - Mc ALLISTER LAKE is located on a high plateau in the "National Wildlife Refuge" about 10 miles southeast of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Mc Allister is a fertile 100-acre lake that produce fast-growing rainbows. Fishing can be sporadic, but generally good for 14- to 16-inch rainbows, occasionally trout in excess of 20 inches are caught.  With the exception of high winds in early spring, pontoons and float tubes can be a good choice for many anglers. Boats are limited to trolling speeds and the lake only has one ramp lane.
