About: -
Bluewater Lake: About 20 miles southwest of Grants, this 2,350-acre
impoundment is one of New Mexico's most popular lakes and state parks. Bluewater
Lake and Bluewater Creek are stocked with rainbow trout, native or cutthroat
trout, and catfish. Some trout caught in Bluewater have weighed 9 pounds. Access to good fishing areas are easily reached by car. The park is also is a
popular spot for ice fishing in the winter months. Bluewater State Park areas can be
reached from I-40 at Exit 63 (Prewitt) to get to the main park, and at Exit 53
(Thoreau) to visit the west side. The state park has two paved ramps at the
Prewitt side and one at the Thoreau side. No marinas.
