Conditions : BAY SPRINGS LAKE: The only real change this week was the water level and temperature. The massive amount of rain we received this past Friday dropped the surface temps down to around 80 and raised the lake level about a foot. The bass bite is fair for some and good for others. It took 12lbs to win on Sunday evening in the three fish limit fruitjar. Deep points, humps, and drop-offs continue to hold most of the most bass. Most fish are coming on Carolina-rigged plastics, T-rigged big worms, shakeyheads and jigs. Some fish are starting to suspend on the main lake, and they can be tricky to catch. Spoons and dropshot rigs are your best bet. Several reports came in of anglers catching good numbers in the canal around the run outs, due to all the rainfall. One angler reported catching over 60 bass, but the average size was small. The crappie bite is slow but some diehard fishermen are finding fish in some of the deep brushtops scattered throughout the lake. Some reports of 2lb crappie are coming from some of these anglers. Target the deeper brush from 20-30ft of water. The few catfish reports coming in are from folks hand grabbing. Reminder that handgrabbing is now closed. Placement of grabbling boxes is prohibited along the waterway.
