: LAKE LAMAR BRUCE: Bass - Bass fishing is slow to fair. Texas-rigged soft plastics, crankbaits and flukes are catching some fish, as well as some topwater lures. Crappie fishing is slow, as they are post-spawn and are being caught in deeper water than the bass are. The bream bite has been fair to good recently, but a lot of small bluegill are being caught. The redear bite has picked up, and some very nice fish in the 10-12" range are being caught. Crickets fished under a cork for bluegill and worms for redear have been the hot baits lately. A few catfish are being caught by bream anglers, but aside from that, the bite has been slow. Tight lining liver and/or worms off the wooden and earthen piers in both the pond and the big lake can be productive.Reported by: MDWFP |

| About: -
Lake Lamar
Bruce, once known as Lake Lee,
was opened in
1954. It is one of 21 state fishing lakes
operated by the Mississippi Department of
Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Historically
known for its tremendous bream fishery, the
lake also contains good populations of
largemouth bass, crappie and channel catfish. Renovations
during the last two years of existing
gravel beds and other fish attractors make Lamar
Bruce a popular destination. Three fishing
piers located along the shoreline provide good
bank access. A new boat ramp accommodates
boats of all sizes. Presently,
there are no harvest regulations for any
species. However, statewide creel limits do apply.
Sportfishing licenses are required to fish with the
exception of July 4th. Fishing permits are
also required.
Location: Lee County,
1.5 miles northeast of
Saltillo, off Hwy.
45. Size: 330
acres
Facilities: Boat ramp,
boat rental, 24 camping
pads with water and electrical
hookups, picnicking and
grills. Skiing: Thursday
& Sunday afternoons
