: ALAMO LAKE: Report courtesy Mark Knapp, Alamo Lake State Park. Well folks, I finally have some good news to report. Time to put the golf clubs away and think about heading out for some crappie and bass fishing. I've done real well throwing plastics right up in the brush. I caught 17 bass, all dinks, in about three hours a couple of days ago. Other anglers are catching there limits trolling deep diving crankbaits. Every thing is in the east end of the lake, mostly on the north side. Crappie fishing is picking up. Anglers are averaging 8 to 10 crappies a day mostly in the one and a half pound range. It's pretty much a toss up weather to troll with a road runner/minnow combination or to just troll with a crankbait. No reports on cat fishing. We have been hitting the 80s in the day and 50's at night. The lake level is at 1114ish with pulse releases of 40 cfs. Both ramps are in operation at this time. Remember to put your stuff away. We are having our 3d annual "Night under the stars" party this Saturday. In a nut shell a couple of astronomy groups set up telescopes in the group use campground and the public is welcome to come by and check it out. Due to budget cuts there will be no vendors this time around, but it still should be allot of fun. It starts at 7 p.m. and goes till around 9. Be sure to bring a jacket. On a final note be sure to put your stuff away.. that's it for now. Mark Reported by: Arizona F&G |
