: WALTER E. LONG: GREAT. Water stained; 67 degrees. The clarity is stained due to the winds. Finding numbers of bass, but fish over 5 pounds have been hard to find. Lots of solid fat seemingly still pregnant females, and very little signs of post spawn. The grass has become very thick in most of the coves, so it is best to use weedless baits. Success with soft plastic worms and flukes. Report by David Report by David Townsend, Austin Fishing Guide. Bass are great with more and more bedding bass showing up. Quality bass can be quite easy to catch in numbers using 4 or 5 inch worms are best, but spinnerbaits and swimbaits will also land catches. You can also run across some hybrid stripers on moving baits and they are fun to catch as well. Throwing into the grass and reeds will get a lot of bites and some are starting to show up a little offshore as well. Watermelon and green pumpkin works best. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs. About: -
Walter Long is a high quality largemouth bass lake. Bass larger than 10 pounds are not rare. Hybrid striped bass are stocked annually, and fish larger than 5 pounds are prevalent. Channel and flathead catfish are present in low numbers. Crappie have been stocked several times, but did not fare well. Several sunfish species (bluegill, redear, and redbreast) offer quality fishing. Many of these sunfish are more than 8 inches in length.
