: Blue and Bear Lakes - The lakes southwest of Cuchara are ice-free and accessible. Kids have been doing well with Power Bait and worms; older anglers have been using flies such as Pistol Petes, Kastmasters and spoons. Reported by: Colorado D.O.W |

| About: -
Bear Lake and Blue Lake are located in southern Colorado, in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The lakes are 4-5 miles off Scenic Highway of Legends which traverses the Cuchara
River Valley. The lakes are small, but provide a peaceful setting. The gravel
road to the
lakes is fairly well maintained and the campgrounds are good.
Located north and along the Highway of Legends is the town of
Cuchara and further north is La Veta. Both towns have a rustic
flair, along with a few shops, galleries, restaurants and taverns.
