: Poudre River - Flow: 7.1cfs.
Water: clear., No reports
The lower canyon was free of ice and the thermometer read 46. Water was quite murky, maybe 1 foot of visibility, but the flows were good. Fishing was slow with only four browns caught and released in 3 hours. Every fish was on a different fly, red sparkle worm, rainbow warrior, copper john, and black UV midge. There was little insect activity, some midges and a few BWO's, not enough to get the fish to the surface. With the murky water, I think you have to use flies that stand out and also hit them right in their face. Fishing should pick up even more as the weather warms up. Not a bad start to the season. Although there is significant ice in most places, the North Fork is flowing well and there's a good stretch with no ice below it. Water temp taken about a half-mile below the confluence. Water is extremely clear in this section. Browns and cutbows were biting well on various spinning lures. Reported by: Sportsman's Warehouse |

| About: -
The Poudre River has some of the finest trout fishing in the state of
Colorado. Near the town of Rustic, wild trout waters are managed with special
regulations so that fly and lure enthusiasts have the opportunity to fish for
wild trout. On the remaining 50 miles of river, anglers may catch and keep
stocked rainbow and brown trout. In the summer months, fishing pressure is heavy
and the river utilized quite heavily by rafters and kayakers.
