About: - Lake Isabella is situated in the beautiful Kern River Valley along Highway 178 and 155 approximately 45 miles northwest of Bakersfield. Lake Isabella is fed by the Kern River. The surface of the lake is 11,400 acres with a shoreline of 38 miles. Numerous well maintained camping facilities are located around the lake. Fishing is allowed 24 hours and the summer months offer some "cool" catfishing. There are three marinas on the lake where boat rentals, tackle, and snacks are available. Lake Isabella is well known by local anglers for the excellent catfish, crappie, and pre-spawn bass fishing.
