: Guyandotte and Coal rivers Fishing is picking up with rising temperature levels. A number of reports of smallmouth and muskies being caught on the Guyandotte, Coal, Mud and Elk rivers have come in from early season anglers. Bass anglers are having success using soft plastics worked slow and close to the bottom. Muskie anglers are using glide baits, and soft plastics. Some have started throwing buck tails and have had follows and caught a few fish during the afternoons during the warmest part of the day.
