: SIEVER RIVER: Marysvale - Winter Forecast: Surface ice and low oxygen make winter fishing less productive in slow moving sections, so focus your efforts on reaches with gradient and faster moving water. Trout often get sluggish during the winter in streams, but can still be caught on a variety of tackle. Slow presentations often help entice inactive fish. Warm, sunny days often provide the best fishing. Visit www.sevierriver.org to see real-time flow. Black Canyon - Winter Forecast: Spring inflow helps keep surface ice minimal in Black Canyon. Trout often get sluggish during the winter in streams, but can still be caught on a variety of tackle. Slow presentations often help entice inactive fish. Warm, sunny days often provide the best fishing. Visit www.sevierriver.org to see real-time flow. Kingston Canyon - Winter Forecast: Surface ice and low oxygen make winter fishing less productive in slow moving sections, so focus your efforts on reaches with gradient and faster moving water. Trout often get sluggish during the winter in streams, but can still be caught on a variety of tackle. Slow presentations often help entice inactive fish. Warm, sunny days often provide the best fishing. Visit www.sevierriver.org to see real-time flow. Upper East Fork - Winter Forecast: Winter fishing is almost nonexistent due to poor access and surface ice. We have begun work to restore native Bonneville cutthroat trout in the drainage, beginning with Blubber and Upper Kanab creeks. Fish numbers will be growing steadily in these streams over the next few years, though they probably won't provide as much fishing success until the population is fully established. About: -
EAST FORK SEVIER RIVER, Garfield and Kane County. Upstream from Tropic
Reservoir, this stream is located on the Dixie National Forest. It is accessible
by gravel road and contains primarily brook trout and cutthroat trout. A number
of tributary streams in this area are also fishable. Further downstream, in the
Black Canyon area, the stream contains mostly brown trout, with some rainbow and
cutthroat trout. This area is accessible by the county road between Antimony and
Bryce Canyon. Much of the lower stream is on private land, but some access is
available on state trust lands, BLM, and Utah Wildlife Resources property.
ASAY CREEK, MAMMOTH CREEK - Asay Creek west of Highway 89 is on private land and access
is restricted. Public access is possible on much of Mammoth Creek west of
Highway 89. Special regulations apply to a section of Mammoth Creek, check the
proclamation for details. When the outlet gates are shut on Piute Reservoir the
river will clear up in Marysvale Canyon and can provide some good winter fishing
for brown and rainbow trout.
