: Tellico River - Tellico River - We are mainly chasing the wild fish and brook trout in the tributaries now. Water levels are great. Mostly dry fly fishing on the warmer days. We have had some rain so the water is a bit murky. Wading sticks are helpful in heavy hydraulics. Fish safely. The leaves have started to fall so enjoy the pretty Fall colors while you can and have a great day fishin''. Reported by: Sportsmans Warehouse |

| About: -
The Tellico River is nationally recognized as a premiere trout stream. The headwaters of the Tellico River originate in the Snowbird mountains of North Carolina. A major tributary
to the Little Tennessee River, the Tellico River watershed comprises 285 square miles in Cherokee County, North Carolina, and Monroe County,
Tennessee. As the river flows east from Tennessee, it meanders through the Cherokee National Forest. After leaving national forest lands,
the river turns northward to join the Little Tennessee River at Tellico Lake. The Tellico trout hatchery is supported by special permits required to fish in
designated waters. Stocked fish are generally larger than those stocked in
Tennessees regular hatchery-supported waters, and some trout escape harvest for
several years. Weekly releases of 5000 rainbows, averaging 8 to 12 inches, occur
in season. Fishing this section requires a Tellico Citico permit (between March 15 thru September 15).
Total length of the river is 52.8 miles. The Tellico River is
fed by many streams high into the watershed. Scenic falls are seen at Bald River which is located near the confluence with the Tellico River.
Other tributaries that support the river include Sycamore Creek and North River. Many scenic views are provided by cliffs, waterfalls and rapids
on the river and its tributaries.
