: SANDY RIVER: Sandy River flows pulled back again last week with summer conditions in place. The warm weather is now affecting the rivers water color as the annual glacial melt begins to turn the upper Sandy reaches to a milky grayish white. Although some water is still being spilled from Columbia River dams, the high flows that were causing a back-up into the lower Sandy appear to have subsided. Spring chinook and summer steelhead angling has been slow during the past week, with checks indicating that most of the catch has been from Oxbow Park on upriver. Chinook and steelhead catch was logged in near Dodge Park, Cedar Creek, and the old Marmot Dam site. Over one hundred summer steelhead have been collected at the Sandy Hatchery and recycled back down to the Lewis and Clark boat ramp to give anglers another chance at them. This is a return of more summers than in all of the 2009 season. The hatchery spring chinook return remains down, with low water in Cedar Creek making passage into the trap very difficult. The on-the-water broodstock collection program is getting underway again this year. Monday stream flow readings had the river level dropping further to 750 cfs with the gage marker at 8.35 ft and the water temperature steady at 56° Reported by: Oregon D.F.W |

| About: -
Sandy River Access for anglers exists from the many parks along the river including Lewis
and Clark, Dabney, Oxbow, or Dodge. Another popular spot is the Cedar Creek area
near the hatchery. Access to the river can be gained from many parks including Lewis and Clark, Dabney, Oxbow, and Dodge. Bank access is also available to the Cedar Creek area at the Sandy Hatchery. When fishing the Oxbow Park area, remember that there is no angling from a floating device upstream from a point that is 200 feet below the Oxbow Park boat ramp.
