: EAGLE NEST LAKE: Due to thinning ice conditions, the lake is open to walk-in traffic only. Fishing was good jigging Kastmasters and ice jigs tipped with PowerBait for rainbow trout. Fishing was very good using ice jigs tipped with meal worms or earth worms for perch. We had no other reports. For updates on ice conditions, call the state park office at (575) 377-1594.

This 2,000-acre impoundment alongside U.S. 64 northeast of Taos is one of the state's premier kokanee and trout lakes; also has yellow perch. Good in open water or through ice for 14-inch-plus rainbows.
