Angel Lake is a popular spot in summer, the 10-mile scenic byway climbs 3,000 feet in
elevation to Angel Lake, affording spectacular views of the entire Clover
Valley. Favored activities include picnicking, fishing, non-power boating,
backpacking and hiking. Located 12 miles south of Wells on Highway 231, Angel
Lake Campground has 26 paved sites and nine paved picnic areas. Angel Creek
Campground and picnic area, located eight miles south of Wells on Highway 231,
has 18 sites and a group picnic site. There is also potable water, vault toilets
and on-site hosts at both campgrounds. Advance reservations can be made by
calling the U.S. National Forest at 1-877-444-6777.(Angel
Lake Campground Reservations) Directions: Take I-80 east from Elko
to Wells, getting off at exit 351. Follow Highway 231 up to Angel Lake. The
nearest available services are in the town of Wells. The road to Angel Lake is
closed during winter months.
