Conditions : Bitterroot River: The Bitterroot is fishing better with the cooler temps we’ve been having. It’s still really low and floating is difficult in many stretches. Wade fishing is really good though and the fish are looking up to Terrestrials, Nocturnal Stones and Trico’s. The Trico’s have just started and fish are coming up to them in spots. Be ready with 5x – 6x tippet and sz 18-22 flies like Tucker’s Twiggy, Organza Spinners, Drowned Spinners and P-Hazes. If you aren’t seeing fish eating Trico’s the best way to get into fish is a Hopper or Nocturnal Stone with a dropper. Hoppers like Sweetgrass Hoppers, Yeti Hoppers, Morrish or More or Less Hoppers sz 10-12 in tan, pink or purple. Nocturnal Stones are just a dark stone fly like a Water Walker, Luna Negra or Chubby. Don’t be afraid to twitch the Hopper or Stonefly. Drop a Stonefly nymph or Perdigon off the back.
