There are several
sites where trees have been placed by the levee to attract fish for
anglers. One location is behind the third buffer levee, on the northeast
section of the levee, heading back west from the eastern corner. To
reach the other two locations anglers need to head left (west) from the
boat ramp. One site being about 400 yards past the western pier (across
from the exposed buffer levees), the other location is a stretch of
levee near the drain on the southwest section of the levee. Some tree
tops were pulled out into the lake and tied to snags, other tops were
anchored in bunches along the levee, and some were placed under the
fishing piers. These tops begin near the burnt snag about 200 yards
beyond the western pier. Facilities Lake Capps has bathrooms, a gravel parking area, a
boat ramp with courtesy piers and the ramp is wide enough to allow two
boats to be launched at a time, picnic tables, two bank fishing
stations, three fishing piers, and camping area with electrical hook-up.
The bank fishing stations have a canopy to provide shade for anglers
during hot summer days. Lake staff have placed Christmas trees and brush
near the fishing stations and under the piers to attract fish for the
anglers.
