Conditions : ALICEVILLE LAKE: Bass - The bass reports have been slow to fair as we seem to be in the late summer grind that typically happens every year. Some anglers are hitting points and laydowns along the channel with crankbaits and jigs. Others are targeting the backwater areas like Camp Pratt and the Coalfire area with various topwater lures, Texas-rigged soft plastics, and jigs. Grassy areas close to deeper water are typically the best spots in those deeper backwaters.

Some crappie action is being reported around the Nashville Ferry area, particularly in James Creek. Anglers are either trolling or pulling jigs around some of the deeper bends or vertical jigging with either minnows and jigs around the laydowns and other woody cover.

The catfish bite is fair to good along the navigation channel and the mouths of the old river runs. Cut or whole shad, kool-aid flavored chicken, and liver have been popular choices. Any current should help the bite.
