Conditions : ABERDEEN LAKE: The bass bite continues to be fair but is slowly improving. Anglers are targeting the backwater areas and sloughs with best baits being spinnerbaits, square billed crankbaits and Texas-rigged plastics. If you find schools of shad, the bass aren’t far away. Topwater walkers and poppers are good choices for fish actively feeding. The rip rap above the mouth of the old Tombigbee River is a good area to find some keeper fish as well. Shad patterned crankbaits and spinnerbaits are good choices there to cover as much water as possible. If you catch one, there most likely will be others around so have a shakeyhead or jig handy to really cover that area. The crappie anglers are hitting the old river runs with some success, but the action is picking up with the cooling water temps. Pockets and sloughs on the west side of the lake are also good. Crappie jigs or minnows are both working as either can out produce the other on any given day. The catfish reports are fair for some while others are having good success. Most are using trotlines and jugs fished off the channel. Cutbait and whole shad is a good bait choice right now.

About: - At 4100-acres, Aberdeen Lake is one of the premier May destinations for bass fishermen in the state of Mississippi. The lake has sloughs off the old river runs and they are shallow and filled with cover.  After the spawn, the bass at Aberdeen don't move out of the bedding areas, because they don't have to. Some of the best sloughs are Vine's Branch, Buzzard Wing and Moccasin Creek. The best old river run is Becker's.

Location: Monroe County, Hwy 45 East of Aberdeen.
