: LAKE MONROE: Bass fishing has been good recently. Bass are post-spawn, so try fishing with Texas-rigged soft plastics, flukes, and crankbaits. A few anglers are beginning to have success with topwater lures as well. The crappie bite has slowed somewhat. Minnows and jigs are working as well as anything, but experiment with different color combos to find what they prefer. The bream fishing is good, and both boat and bank anglers are having some success. Crickets under a cork were the bait of choice, but don't overlook small spinners or tightlining red worms around cover and along primary drop-offs for shellcrackers (redear). A few catfish are beginning to be caught by bank anglers. Try tight lining worms, liver, or koolaid flavored chicken. Water temperature: 80

and shellcrackers, the 100-acre lake also contains
good populations of crappie and large channel

there are no harvest regulations for any
species. However, statewide creel limits do apply.
Sportfishing licenses are required to fish with
the exception of July 4. Fishing permits are
also required. Directions to Lake
