LAKE LOWNDES STATE - Bass - Bass fishing has been slow lately, but should pick up as the prespawn bite should be on. Try fishing in and around the creek channel, but dont overlook the laydowns on the deep banks adjacent to the channel. Swim baits, jigs, and shakeyhead worms will out produce most other baits. No reports on crappie. The creek channel that winds down the middle of the lake, particularly around any cover adjacent to it, would be good areas to target. The best depths will range anywhere from 10 to 25 feet deep. Jigs or jig/minnow combinations will be the best bait choices.
No reports on bream. Target bream around cover in the 6 10 ft. depth range. Typically, tight lining worms is the best technique this time of year.
Cat - Target the creek channel and around the deeper points with night crawlers, cut shad, and/or liver. Tight lining is the most popular technique for catfish.
