: Horseshoe Lake: Local angler Clyde Gregory said the water is clear and high. Bream are slow on crickets fished around cypress trees. Crappie are fair on black jigs fished near the piers. About: -
Horseshoe Lake, six miles east of Hughes via Ark. 38, is famous for its open
water and massive stands of ancient cypress trees. A modern highway circles the
old river cutoff.
Fishing: Bass and panfish are the choice of most
anglers. Boat ramps and marina are available.
