: Horseshoe Lake: Big River Marine Xpress, Excel and Alweld dealer (870-635-0202) said crappie are on fire at Horseshoe. Fish the canal, ditches and willows with minnows under a cork or black/red tube jigs. Bream are biting well in the same areas on worms and crickets, with the occasional big bream hitting crappie jigs. No report on bass or catfish.

About: -Horseshoe Lake, six miles east of Hughes via Ark. 38, is famous for its open
water and massive stands of ancient cypress trees. A modern highway circles the
old river cutoff.
Fishing: Bass and panfish are the choice of most
anglers. Boat ramps and marina are available.
