: Bear Creek Lake: Tyler Ball, park ranger at Mississippi River State Park (870-295-4040), said anglers are Bear Creek report having success catching crappie at depths of 12-18 feet using mainly artificial bait. About: -
Bear Creek Lake is and 635-acre lake located in east
central Arkansas. It lies within the north end of the St. Francis National
Forest, and two national scenic byways - the Great
River Road and the Crowley's Ridge Parkway, pass nearby. Anglers visit the
lake in search of its largemouth bass, bluegill, red-ear sunfish and blue and
channel catfish. Abundant wildlife readily seen in the national forest includes
whitetail deer, squirrel, raccoon, rabbit, wild turkey and a wide variety of
other birds. Camping:
Mississippi State Park now has water, sewer and electricity at 14 of the campsites at on Bear Creek Lake near Marianna Ar in the St. Francis National Forest. A new bathhouse and reservations can be made to stay at he campground at 870-295-4040.
