Fishing Info: Located in the Idaho Panhandle, the St. Joe River is one of Idaho's finer cutthroat rivers. Sections of the St. Joe are part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system and designated as "quality fishing" by the Department of Fish and Game. The St. Joe hosts cutthroat trout, bull trout and whitefish. There are specific regulations that apply here, catch-and-release only, using artificial flies and lures with a single barbless hook. The river is susceptible to spring runoff and summer rains. The best time to fish the Joe is late June thru September.
