Each year my clients land many smallmouth over 20 inches with the average smallmouth being around 17 inches. The largest smallmouth caught last year was 23 inches and weighed 6.3 pounds. Spring, summer or fall is prime time to experience Door County smallmouth fishing. On average, you should expect to catch 10 to 30 smallmouth bass, with fish running between 12 to 21 inches. Catches of 50 or more bass during a day are possible.
