Conditions : DESCHUTES RIVER: The Deschutes doesn’t get winter run steelhead, but anglers can fish for summer run well into winter, as summer steelhead won’t be spawning until early spring. Steelhead anglers should focus their effort in the upper portion of the basin, from Maupin upstream to Warm Springs, although fish are dispersed throughout the entire river. Anglers are reporting success at South Junction, Trout Creek and Mecca Flat areas.

Trout anglers should focus efforts on softer waters throughout the river. Nymph fishing can be productive during the winter months.
