About: -
The San Juan River originates high in the
Colorado San Juan Mountains. The freestone river flows through the mountain town
of Pagosa Springs then travels through the picturesque Mesa Canyon. After a few
miles through the canyon the river landscape changes to ranch land before it
ends in Navajo
Reservoir.
Fishing access is somewhat restrictive, but there is some public access wade fishing through Pagosa.
An agreement with property owners in Pagosa allows anglers to utilize the high
water mark to access much of the river in town. The best time to fish the San
Juan is in early spring, following run-off and autumn.
